    Cherry is known as अष्ठिगर्भः. I am sorry, there is not direct name of Strawberry in Sanskrit.

    Papaya, as it seems, is not a native Indian fruit and therefore does not have a direct name in Sanskrit. However, it is often represented by the name given to other similar fruits like नारङ्गी, फुट, etc. The name ascribed to these fruits is–चिर्भीटा…

    This is an informative and interesting website,very useful in knowing the mother of all Indian languages. I find the names of fruits are slightly different in pronunciation in sanskrit from gujarati.the names are almost similar. It clearly shows gujarati is a derivative from sanskrit like marathi, bengali, hindi etc

    Well, the roseapple and black plum’s meanings are different. The three names that I gave are of black plum while Roseapple’s meaning is written as जम्बूः। Notice the deergha matra of “oo”.
